If you do one good deed, your reward is to be set to do another and harder and better one. C. S. Lewis

The Little Sixty Watt Light

I told the old man
I didn't understand
his porch light
being on all day

A little sixty watt light
isn't that bright
compared
to the light of the day

And at best
even at night
it has just enough light
to be seen a block away

So he turned out the light
and its dark out at night
since the old man
moved away

The Hero

He floats above the mourners
amazed at the crowd
His words were never many
his voice was never loud
and the lives he touched
were by simple acts
only acts
that love
allowed

CRAVING

CRAVING

Nothingness
lightless
silent
boundless
infinite
sameness
I awake
with a craving

OLD FRIENDS

OLD FRIENDS
Copyright 2013 by Norris Trimm

If I were twenty years younger
and you were twenty years plus
two birthday candles
would separate us

What's a few years
between old friends
that's all I'm
asking  you

You could roller skate
while I warm the bench
watch you do flips
while you watch me flinch

What's a few years
between old friends
that's all I'm
asking you

Reincarnation
that would be fine
still my teeth would be gone
and so would my mind

What's a few years
between old friends
that's all I'm
asking you

The Top

He sets it spinning
though it wobbles
but he spins
his little top
finally gets it
 making circles
and watches...
as it slowly
starts to stop
(it takes him a billion years but he has lots of time)
